Yes, the Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board. By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). The Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation has generously donated funding for scholarship opportunities with a value of up to $20,000 per annum for up to three (3) years. Applications for the 2027 Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation and the associated UOW Ramsay Scholarship will open on 15 June, 2026. Scholarship recipients will enjoy access to a dedicated study lounge, small class sizes, academic mentoring and an opportunity to engage in a bespoke scholarly experience.
All applicants are required to submit a written application via the application portal during the designated period. You must upload an essay response with your application for it to be considered complete. Once assessed, eligible applicants will be invited to take part in a telephone interview with UOW. The Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation – Bachelor of Laws takes 5 years full-time, or the part-time equivalent. A double degree at UOW provides a world-class qualification in less time and at less cost than studying the two degrees separately.
For Higher Education applicants, entry is based on a combination of a written submission (essay), an interview and academic performance, requiring at least one year of full-time study at a Bachelor's degree level or higher. VET applicants who have completed a minimum of an AQF Diploma will also be considered. Additionally, UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre's Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP) offers an alternative pathway for Indigenous Australians aged 17 and over. Admission is primarily based on academic qualifications; those who do not meet requirements are encouraged to explore pathway programs such as those offered by UOW College or the TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC).
