Course Overview

About This Course

The University of Notre Dame Australia's Bachelor of Politics & Journalism is a standalone three-year degree for students pursuing careers in politics, public relations or the media. Combining the study of politics and journalism into a single degree, it blends Australian political theory with hands-on experience across radio, television, print, video and digital formats.

Students complete 24 courses, including six in Politics & International Relations and six in Journalism, designed to build analytical and creative skills alongside essential content knowledge. The program includes an internship opportunity to learn on location in a real work environment such as a publishing company, TV studio or radio station, with credit towards the degree and the option of overseas internships.

Service-learning through the Social Justice area combines community service with academic instruction, with some placements in the local community and an international option to locations such as Cambodia. Graduates can pursue careers including diplomatic service officer, political campaign assistant, media advisor, human rights worker, and policy analyst. An Honours award is available.

Note: this program was formerly listed as "Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Journalism)" and is now a standalone Bachelor of Politics & Journalism degree.

Hear From the Students

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
