This program is designed for high achieving law students in the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Bachelor of Laws program who wish to undertake an extended level of study and research in Law. It is an Honours-level program, requiring students to meet criteria including completion of at least 160 credit points of law study and achieving an Honours Weighted Average Mark (HWAM) or Admission Average Mark (AAM) of at least 70.
You will learn professional legal skills including the ability to analyse legal material, understand fundamental legal principles, understand the relationship between law and society, and gain general analytical skills for critical thinking and problem solving. Special emphasis is placed on the development of skills in advocacy, negotiation, legal drafting and legal research. You may also have the opportunity to take part in work experience such as working at the NSW Attorney General's in legal aid, working in cooperative Summer Research Programs with industry, and in the Australian Taxation Office advisory support scheme.
