Bachelor of Arts (Western Civilisation)/Master of Teaching (Secondary)

Domestic students

• Applicants must comply with ACU's Admission to Coursework Programs Policy, which includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement and the English Language Proficiency requirements.
• To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:
  • New South Wales: English (Advanced) (Band 2) or English (EAL) (Band 4)
• Entry into this course is assessed on a combination of:
• 1. ATAR or Selection Rank, International Baccalaureate (IB), or equivalent
• 2. Recent academic results
• Access to the course is via direct entry to ACU and is tied to a scholarship application; there are no other entry pathways. Non-scholarship students are selected on the basis of ATAR.
• Additional requirements for Ramsay Scholarship applications:
• 1. A written submission, which includes a curriculum vitae, references, recent academic results and an essay
• 2. Interview
• English language requirements: IELTS - no score less than 7 in reading and writing and no score less than 8 in listening and speaking; PTE - a minimum of 65 in reading and writing and 79 in listening and speaking; TOEFL (Academic) - no score less than 24 in reading, 27 in writing, 28 in listening and 26 in speaking; ACU English Language Test - A++ (85 or above); C1 Advanced - a minimum of 185 in reading and writing and 200 in listening and speaking.
• Applicants who have completed at least two units of AQF-recognised study at bachelor level or above are assigned a new selection rank reflecting their study level, duration and grade point average, and may be eligible for credit or recognition of prior learning.

International students

• International applicants need the equivalent of an Australian Year 12 Certificate, and must comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy, including the English Language Proficiency requirements.
• International students completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (either outside or in Australia), an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, or a New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 must apply for admission through their local Tertiary Admission Centre (TAC) and are assessed on their performance in those studies (i.e. ATAR or equivalent).
• English language requirements: IELTS - no score less than 7 in reading and writing and no score less than 8 in listening and speaking; PTE - a minimum of 65 in reading and writing and 79 in listening and speaking; TOEFL (Academic) - no score less than 24 in reading, 27 in writing, 28 in listening and 26 in speaking; ACU English Language Test - A++ (85 or above); C1 Advanced - a minimum of 185 in reading and writing and 200 in listening and speaking.
