About This Course

An education degree doesn't confine you to the classroom. Whether you're drawn to teaching, leadership, curriculum development, or support services, it equips you with adaptable skills valued across diverse educational and community settings. The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) consists of 4 strands: Christian Studies, Education Studies, Discipline Studies (including Discipline Content, and Curriculum and Pedagogy) and Professional Experience. As part of their Discipline Content studies, students complete a major of 8 units in a Humanities teaching area and a minor of 4 units in another teaching area.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Year 12 studies or equivalent in English and Mathematics
English: English, English and Literature (Units 3 & 4; C or above) or equivalent studies
Mathematics: General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4; C or above) or equivalent studies
Recent Secondary Education: Applicants who have completed secondary education in the last two years and who are aged 17 years or over, are eligible for admission to this course
VET study: Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study of at least a completed Certificate III (with a GPA of at least 4.0, where applicable) and who are aged 17 years or over, are eligible for admission to this course
Higher Education study: Applicants with completed higher education study, and applicants with higher education study of at least one semester (full-time equivalent) who wish to transfer to or within CHC, are eligible for admission to this course
Work and life experience: Applicants with work and life experience who demonstrate readiness for higher education, including successful completion of the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT), are eligible for admission to this course
Applicants must demonstrate qualities that indicate motivation and suitability to become a teacher and involvement in personal learning and leadership activities (assessed via NARTE as administered by QTAC)
Applicants must be eligible for a Blue Card (Queensland's Working with Children Check), or the equivalent from another jurisdiction
English language proficiency requirements apply to all domestic and overseas applicants for whom English is not their first language
IELTS (Academic): 7.5 (at least 8.0 for Listening and Speaking; at least 7.0 for Reading and Writing)
ISLPR: 4 (in each of the areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing); test will only be accepted if administered by ISLPR Language Services, Mt Gravatt, Queensland
English test results must be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study
Exemption from English proficiency requirements: Satisfactory completion (from Canada [excluding Quebec], New Zealand, Australia, Republic of Ireland, United States or United Kingdom) of senior secondary or accredited higher education sector studies of at least two years (full-time equivalent)
