Students complete a major of 8 units in a Humanities teaching area and a minor of 4 units in another teaching area. The available teaching areas include Accounting (minor only), Biblical Studies, Business Education (minor only), Drama, English, and History.
The Professional Experience Program (PEP) consists of 85 days of supervised practicum undertaken in a range of schools. Placements are available in the Christian, state and Independent schooling sectors in both urban and regional settings. Students are required to hold a valid Blue Card in order to engage in PEP.
The minimum English language proficiency requirements are: IELTS (Academic) 7.5 (at least 8.0 for Listening and Speaking; at least 7.0 for Reading and Writing), or ISLPR 4 in each of the areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing (administered by ISLPR Language Services, Mt Gravatt, Queensland only). English test results must be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study.
Yes. Applicants with work and life experience who demonstrate readiness for higher education, including successful completion of the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT), are eligible for admission to this course.
The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) consists of 4 strands: Christian Studies, Education Studies, Discipline Studies (including Discipline Content, and Curriculum and Pedagogy) and Professional Experience.
