In this industry-led degree, you'll develop the critical skills needed to assess and manage all aspects of the aviation industry. You'll also learn how to work both independently and as part of a team to solve real industry issues in aviation operations. Your flight training includes a Recreational, Private, and Commercial pilot licence (RPL/PPL/CPL). These are Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) licences and enable you to fly commercially within Australia. Graduates of this degree are well-prepared for diverse aviation careers. In addition to flying roles, you'll gain skills in leadership, problem solving and aviation operations that can open opportunities into roles that include: airline operations planning and management airline maintenance management and supervision airport landside operations airport airside operations airport planning and management aviation safety management airline strategies, finance, and traffic data. Becoming a professional pilot in the competitive field of aviation can lead to a rewarding and well-paid career. The International Civil Aviation Organization found that in the most likely scenario 980,733 pilots will be required globally in 2030, with 229,676 of these in the Asia Pacific region. To participate, university students will need to be in Year 2 of their undergraduate Aviation degree. The program will provide University students the necessary insights and preparation for future roles in the aviation industry. Students who complete the Q-ACE program will be able to update their aviation experience with Qantas every six months. Once the minimum direct entry pilot recruitment requirements are met for one of the Qantas Group airlines, they will be extended an invitation to attend a Qantas Group Assessment Centre, subject to operational requirements. To be eligible to be considered for the program, students will need to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot Training) or Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilot) and be actively undertaking flying training in one of these degrees as an Australian resident student. Flight training will be conducted at RMIT's dedicated flight schools at either Point Cook Airfield or Bendigo Airfield. Non-flying related subjects are held at the Melbourne City campus. Point Cook, located at the RAAF Williams Base, offers 4,500 feet of airspace, unrestricted training manoeuvres, and minimised circuit congestion as the only operator at that airfield. Bendigo Airfield boasts more than 300 flyable days each year and features newly acquired Cessna 172s with glass cockpits, a brand new runway, and training routes including regional and rural airstrips.
Through your flight training in this degree, you will be prepared to obtain a Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL), a Private Pilot Licence (PPL), and a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). These are Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) licences and enable you to fly commercially within Australia. You will complete at least seven subjects in practical flying training, taking you to CPL licence level, with the option of taking further ratings if desired.

The annual tuition fee for international students is AU$69,120 (2026 annual). The course is offered on campus with a full-time duration of 3 years, with the next intake in February, and is available at Point Cook and Melbourne City locations for international students.
