Bachelor of Biomedical Science / Bachelor of Applied Public Health

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science/Bachelor of Applied Public Health (BBiomedSc/BAppPH) is a double degree of Australian Catholic University, set out in the ACU Handbook for 2023. ACU publishes no separate course overview for the award, so the handbook's completion requirements are the fullest account of what students study. The double degree carries 320 credit points and has a minimum duration of four years full-time or the equivalent part-time, and its approved teaching location is ACU's Melbourne campus. Of the 320 credit points, 140 come from biomedical science units, made up of 130 credit points of specified units and 10 credit points of electives, and 120 come from public health units, made up of 110 credit points of specified units and 10 credit points of electives. A further 20 credit points are taken from interprofessional units, 20 credit points from ACU's Core Curriculum, and 20 credit points from applied public health placement units. The specified public health units listed in the handbook include Foundations of Public Health, Foundations of Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Globalisation, Environment and Health, Public Health Economics, Public Health Emergency Response, Applied Public Health Communication, Public Health Advocacy, Public Health Policy and Law, Contemporary Issues in Public Health and Applied Health Promotion. Students normally complete 100-level units before undertaking related 200-level units, and 200-level units before related 300-level units. In all aspects of progress through the course, students are advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by the decisions of the relevant School Committee.
