Bachelor of Biomedical Science/Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (BBiomedSc/LLB(Hons)) is a double degree of Australian Catholic University, set out in the ACU Handbook for 2027. ACU publishes no separate course overview for the award, so the handbook's completion requirements are the fullest account of what students study. The double degree carries 400 credit points and has a minimum duration of five years full-time or the equivalent part-time, with approved locations at Brisbane, Melbourne and North Sydney. Of the 400 credit points, 160 are taken under the Bachelor of Biomedical Science: 130 credit points of specified biomedical science units, 20 credit points of Core Curriculum units, and 10 credit points taken either as a biomedical science elective or as a law elective. The specified biomedical science units listed in the handbook include Human Biology 1 and 2, Numerical Reasoning, Communicating Ideas in Science, Cell Biology and Laboratory Skills, Foundations of Chemistry, Physical and Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biostatistics, Research Design and Ethics, Pathophysiology and Human Genetics. The remaining 240 credit points follow the Bachelor of Laws: 180 credit points of specified law units, 10 credit points of law electives, the 10 credit point unit Legal Research and Methodology, a 30 credit point honours thesis, and a 10 credit point community legal engagement pro bono unit. At least four of the law units must be at level 4, and students must also complete at least 80 hours of zero-credit-point pro bono placement after completing Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono. Students normally complete introductory 100-level units before advancing to higher-level units.
