About This Course

The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) is an undergraduate degree from Torrens University Australia that combines core business fundamentals with specialised accounting expertise. Students gain the technical, analytical and strategic skills to make sound financial recommendations in dynamic, global environments, developing proficiency in financial reporting, taxation, auditing, management accounting, business law and corporate governance. Flexible study options allow students to progress at their own pace, setting up pathways to professional accounting certifications or postgraduate study such as an MBA. Learning outcomes include gaining expertise in accounting principles to drive business success, applying accounting skills to solve complex business problems and support decision-making, adapting to emerging trends with agile responses, and applying research and analysis to real-world commercial and financial management challenges. Students undertake 300 hours of industry experience, alongside enhancing communication, teamwork, ethical decision-making and cultural awareness.

Torrens is a member of both the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). The course is delivered online and on campus over 3 years full time (6 years part time), across the Sydney and Melbourne campuses and online, with intakes in September and November 2026, and February 2027.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students — Admission criteria:

Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent
Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above
Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent
Work-life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level, which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

Check the domestic course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Eligible Australian students may choose to defer some, or all, of their tuition fees through FEE-HELP. Business, Alumni and Industry scholarships are available.

International students — Admission criteria:

Course fees can be paid across three study periods, with each instalment due before the beginning of the academic stage census date. A range of financial scholarships is available to support international students.

If you have already completed a qualification or gained skills through life or work experience, you may be able to credit this against your degree through Recognition of Prior Learning or Course Credit transfer, with further study pathway options also available.
