About This Course

The Bachelor of Business (Event Management) covers every aspect of planning and running major events, with electives that let students tailor the degree to their specific career goals. Students gain key skills in commercial event operations and management, event staging and production, and event marketing, learning to develop creative themes and formats and manage clients so their expectations are met. The course builds a thorough understanding of the legal, marketing, financial and strategic concepts involved in event management, along with practical industry skills in project, strategic and event management. Students can also choose to specialise in hospitality, tourism, marketing, public relations or advertising. Learning outcomes include the professional skills needed to set up and run an event management business, the ability to design, plan and run large-scale events, effective marketing and sponsorship strategies to commercialise events, experience handling logistical issues and problem-solving on the fly, and the managerial and delegation skills that make running great events possible. The course includes 300 hours of industry experience.

Torrens University is a member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). This AQF Level 7 course is delivered online, on campus or in blended mode across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and online, over three years full-time, six years part-time, or two years accelerated.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students:

Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent OR
Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above OR
Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent OR
Work-life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level, which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

International students:

Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent OR
Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent Senior Secondary qualification, or Baccalaureate Diploma AND
Academic IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent OR
Alternative entry requirements may be available, which may include assessment and approval of prior study, or successful completion of a readiness assessment
