The degree consists of 26 subjects in total: 12 core business subjects, 6 specialisation subjects focused on the fashion industry, 6 electives that you can tailor to your career goals, and 2 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects.
There are two Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects in this degree, usually completed over two study periods, providing 600+ hours of hands-on practical work experience. As part of WIL, you will complete a Professional Placement Preparation Program and two trimesters of professional placements. ICMS has an impressive network of industry partners in the fashion industry, and placements could be in a major city, regional area in Australia, or even an international city.
The 6 specialisation subjects focus on building key industry skills and knowledge in fashion areas: Introduction to the Fashion and Retail Industry, Styling and Creative Direction, Brand Management and Product Innovation, Fashion Planning and Buying, Retail Strategy and Operations, and Visual Merchandising and Design.
The Bachelor of Business (Fashion and Global Brand Management) is available at the Northern Beaches Campus in Manly and the City Campus in Sydney, subject to availability. It takes 3 years to complete (or part-time equivalent), with an accelerated option of 2.3 years. Main intakes are in February, May, and August, with mid-term intakes in March, June, October, and December.
Graduates can pursue a range of roles in the fashion and retail industry, including Brand Manager, Visual Merchandiser, Fashion Buyer, Digital Marketer, Retail Manager, Fashion Marketing Manager, Brand Strategist, Fashion Planner, Retail Strategy and Operations, Product Development Manager, and e-Commerce Manager. The retail trade sector is the 10th fastest growing sector in Australia over the past five years, supporting strong demand for qualified graduates.
