Accounting for Business Decisions
Provides an introduction to accounting and governance mechanisms, covering bookkeeping, financial reports, retail operations, inventory, accrual accounting, and management accounting basics.
Database Management for Business

Systems Design Thinking
Continues from Requirements Design Thinking, focusing on techniques, tools, and methods of systems analysis and modelling including data modelling, use case analysis, traditional, object-oriented, and web-based systems modelling. Pre-requisite: BISY2009.
Operational Management
Examines operational facets of organisations including process design, supply network design, inventory management, supply chain management, and operational performance monitoring and improvement.
Data Mining & Business Intelligence
Covers data mining methods including classification, prediction, reduction, exploration, and affinity analysis, and their application to real business cases. Pre-requisite: BISY1002 and BBUS1008.
Information Security
Examines current security threats, security processes, products and solutions, firewall and secure router design, AAA implementation, virtual private networks, and security policy design and management.
E-Commerce & E-Business Applications
Covers theory and practice of e-Business and e-Commerce including telecommunications, systems and technology applications, and ethical, social, and legal implications. Pre-requisite: BISY2006.
Australian Tax System
Examines fundamentals of Australian taxation law including the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936, practical tax law application, and social implications of taxation.
Cloud Services and Big Data
Introduces cloud computing, big data, data streaming, and cloud platforms; covers big data frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink, and Airflow using Java and/or Python across AWS, Google, and Azure. Pre-requisite: BISY1002 and BISY2006.
Contemporary Management: Issues and Challenges
Explores contemporary and advanced management and organisational theories to address challenges in market demand, technology, social responsibility, communication, and human resources management.
Practical Industry Projects - PIP (Part A)
Capstone project in partnership with Practera; students work in groups of up to six on real-world business challenges for industry clients, guided by a client mentor and lecturer, earning certification and a digital badge. Pre-requisite: Completion of 160 course credit points including BISY2004.
Practical Industry Projects - PIP (Part B)
Continuation of the Practical Industry Project capstone. Pre-requisite: BISY3008a.
Human Resource Management (Elective - Level 2000)
Elective unit covering HRM responsibilities, talent acquisition, talent management, succession planning, performance management, industrial relations, and employee engagement. Pre-requisite: BBMG2001.
Operational Management (Elective - Level 2000)
Elective unit examining operational objectives and strategies, process design, supply chain management, and operational performance improvement. Pre-requisite: BBMG2001.
Contemporary Management: Issues and Challenges (Elective - Level 3000)
Elective unit exploring contemporary management challenges and innovative solutions for business problems. Pre-requisite: BACC2003.

The total course tuition fee over 3 years is $51,000 (2024 fees) or $53,520 (2026 fees). The fee per annum is $17,000 (2024) or $17,840 (2026), and the fee per unit is $2,125 (2024) or $2,230 (2026). All fees are in Australian dollars and are subject to change without notice. Fees must be paid in full before enrolment/selection of subjects in any given semester.
The course has multiple intakes throughout the year: February, March, May, June, August, September, October, and November. For example, Semester 1 Block 4 in 2026 has an orientation on 27 May 2026 and classes commencing 1 June 2026.
The degree requires completion of 24 units totalling 240 credit points (10 credit points per unit). Units are divided into three levels: Level 1000 (8 core units), Level 2000 (6 core units + 2 electives), and Level 3000 (6 core units + 2 electives). The course also includes nested qualifications: a Diploma of Business Information Systems (exit after 1 year full-time) and an Associate Degree of Business Information Systems (exit after 2 years full-time).
Graduates can pursue roles including Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Information Systems Designer, and IT Manager. The qualification also meets the academic requirement for admission to Postgraduate courses within Australia and overseas (subject to additional institution/course-specific requirements).

The PIP (BISY3008a and BISY3008b) is a two-part capstone unit delivered in partnership with Practera. Students work in groups of up to six on real-world business challenges for industry clients, guided by both a client mentor and a lecturer. It provides hands-on experience, industry networking opportunities, and upon completion students receive a certification and digital badge for their CV and LinkedIn profile. To enrol in BISY3008a, students must have completed 160 course credit points including BISY2004 (Project Management).
