Common Questions
In your third year, you will complete a Practice Year, gaining hands-on experience in diverse workplaces across government, consultancies, NGOs and private organisations. This extended period of industry experience enables you to connect theory and practice, apply your learnings to the real world, and gain exposure to the professional and industry landscape.
Yes, the Bachelor of City Planning (Honours) is accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA). Graduates are eligible for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), subject to practical experience, taking the first steps toward professional accreditation in the planning industry.
The program is a four-year, full-time embedded honours degree consisting of 28 courses totalling 192 units of credit (UOC). It includes Level 1 core courses (42 UOC), Level 2 core courses (42 UOC), Level 3 core courses including a Practice Year (30 UOC), Level 4 core courses including a thesis (36 UOC), at least 18 UOC of prescribed planning electives, 12 UOC of free electives, and 12 UOC of general education.
Yes, the Bachelor of City Planning (Honours) can be paired with the Bachelor of Laws in a double degree. This combination gives you a broad and comprehensive understanding of professional demands, global trends, and contemporary social issues such as sustainability, equitable environments, land law, strata and community titles, and construction contracts. Despite the name, a double degree is not double the workload — it combines the core courses from two programs so you graduate with two certificates sooner than studying for one degree followed by another.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
