Note that the accounting and financial planning majors are the recommended pathway to qualify for membership of professional organisations.
Yes, all students in the Bachelor of Commerce have the option to complete up to two minor sequences. Available minors include: accounting, business analytics, digital finance, economics, economic analytics, emerging technology, entrepreneurship, event management, finance, global and social impact, human resource management, international business, international trade, marketing, people management, production management, project management, property investments, recruitment and talent acquisition, retail management, sustainability and development, and wealth management.
To complete the Bachelor of Commerce, you must pass 24 credit points. This includes: DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point compulsory unit) in your first study period, 8 credit points of core units, 1 major (8 credit points), 1 credit point of Work Integrated Learning (WIL), and 7 credit points of open elective units. A minimum of 16 credit points must be from the Faculty of Business and Law undergraduate units, with a maximum of 10 credit points at level 1 and a minimum of 6 credit points at level 3.
Yes, students must complete a 1 credit point Work Integrated Learning unit. Recommended business WIL units include Business for Social Impact (MWL305), Consultancy Experience (MWL316), Entrepreneurship Experience (MWL317), Internship (MWL318), and International Consultancy Experience (MWL319), or another WIL unit available in the University subject to meeting unit pre-requisites. Note that some WIL units may require police checks, working with children checks or other checks.
