The Bachelor of Commerce offers six majors: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Financial Advising, Financial Management, and International Trade. You can choose either a second major or elective subjects to further specialise or broaden your knowledge. While all majors are available online (or externally), not all majors are available face-to-face at all campuses.
You will develop essential job-ready skills through the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) capstone program, where you'll work alongside leading commerce professionals and build a network that may lead to further opportunities post-graduation. Students in Townsville can also participate in the Townsville Chamber of Commerce — James Cook University Mentoring Program, where they are connected to an industry professional for one-on-one sessions, virtual check-ins, and mentoring events focused on career planning, skill development, networking, and job search techniques.
Yes, you can broaden your horizons and gain a global perspective by completing one semester at JCU Singapore or at one of JCU's 52 partnering universities around the world as part of the exchange program.
The indicative annual Commonwealth Supported Fee for a full-time study load is $15,650+ (plus the Student Services and Amenities fee). Please note this estimate is variable and subject to fluctuation depending on choice of elective subjects. Fee deferral and scholarships are available if eligible. The course takes 3 years to complete full-time, or up to 6 years part-time.
The Bachelor of Commerce is available at Townsville, Cairns, Brisbane, and online, with three intake periods per year: January, May, and September. All four study modes (Townsville, Cairns, Brisbane, and Online) share the same intake dates, giving you flexibility in when and where you begin your studies.
