Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)

The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) (BCom(Accounting)) is an undergraduate degree of Australian Catholic University, set out in the ACU Handbook for 2025. ACU publishes no separate course overview for the award, so the handbook's completion requirements are the fullest account of what students study. The degree carries 240 credit points and has a minimum duration of three years full-time or the equivalent part-time, and its approved locations are Brisbane, Melbourne and North Sydney. To qualify, a student completes 50 credit points of specified business units, 20 credit points from ACU's Core Curriculum, 10 credit points in a community engagement unit, 120 credit points of accounting specialisation units, and 40 credit points made up of business electives or electives taken from outside the Faculty of Law and Business. The specified business units listed in the handbook are Money Matters, Managing Markets, Managing People and Organisations, Information Technology in Action and Professional Experience; the community engagement requirement is met through Community Engagement: Building Strengths and Capabilities; and the Core Curriculum options include Self and Community: Exploring the Anatomy of Modern Society, Being Human, Ethics and the Good Life, Justice and Change in a Global World, and The Just Society. The specialisation itself comprises twelve accounting units, among them Financial Accounting. Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator, and in all aspects of progression through the course they are advised by the Course Coordinator.
