Common Questions
In the Bachelor of Commerce component, you can choose from majors in accounting, economics, finance, financial planning, human resources management, management, management information systems, or marketing. In the Bachelor of Communication component, you can choose from advertising, digital and social media, journalism, or public relations. Note that advertising and digital and social media major sequences are not offered at Waurn Ponds Campus.
The course takes 4 years full-time or part-time equivalent. To complete the degree, you must pass 32 credit points in total — 16 from the Bachelor of Commerce and 16 from the Bachelor of Communication. As a full-time student you will study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year. You may also be able to study available units in the optional third trimester to fast-track your degree.
The course is available at Burwood (Melbourne), Waterfront (Geelong), and Online. There are three intake periods: Trimester 1 starting in March, Trimester 2 starting in July, and Trimester 3 starting in November, all available at all three locations. Note that students enrolled at Waterfront (Geelong) campus will be required to undertake units of study at both Waurn Ponds (Geelong) and Waterfront (Geelong).
Both degrees offer hands-on learning through study tours, internships, work placements and exchanges. You will work with real clients and industry-connected academics, and learn in speciality spaces including an industry-standard newsroom and studio. The course also includes Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units, and the combination of practical assessments, industry events and internship opportunities means you will graduate with a portfolio of work and a strong network.
To meet the English language proficiency requirements, you will need to demonstrate at least one of the following: a VCE English Units 3 and 4 study score of 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or 20 in any other English; an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no band score less than 6.0; or other evidence of English language proficiency as determined by Deakin University.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
