About This Course

The University of Notre Dame Australia's Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Science double degree is the perfect launching pad if you want to operate in today's business environment and apply your scientific know-how and expertise. You will be guided to develop knowledge, conceptual understanding and analytical skills to prepare you for the modern business landscape. You will also gain scientific knowledge and skills and specialise in areas aligned with your interests. Combining skills and knowledge from the business world with scientific knowledge and skills is an astute combination. Scientists need to be able to operate in commercial settings, and business people need to know about the science behind their decisions and how they may impact the world around us. As part of the Bachelor of Commerce, you will be able to major in various disciplines such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing and Public Relations. The wide choice of disciplines allows you to customise your degree to suit your personal and professional interests and academic strengths. As part of the Bachelor of Science, you will study core interdisciplinary Science courses, including experimental design, maths, biology, chemistry and a science internship. These courses provide the basis for strong skills in scientific investigation, including data collection and analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication. These skills are highly sought after by employers and applicable to many workplaces within and outside the field of science. Building on these core Science courses, you will deepen your study of science by selecting a Science Stream that matches your interests: Biology & Environment, Environment & Heritage, Human & Medical Science, or Multidisciplinary Science. Each Stream ensures in-depth knowledge and skill development through practical hands-on experience in the classroom, the laboratory, and the field.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Applicants with recent Secondary Education: Indicative ATAR/Selection Rank of 70 (Selection Ranks include ATAR plus Adjustment Factors)
OR International Baccalaureate (IB) score of 25
Applicants with Higher Education: Successful completion of 4 subjects at an undergraduate level or higher
OR Successful completion of the Notre Dame Tertiary Pathway Program (TPP), or a tertiary preparation program from another institution that is deemed to be of a similar academic rigour to the Notre Dame TPP
Applicants who have successfully completed subjects at another University, which are relevant to the selected program of study, may be eligible for credit (Advanced Standing)
Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) study: Successful completion of AQF Certificate IV or higher from an accredited provider such as TAFE or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
Applicants with Work and Life Experience: Applicants who left secondary education more than two years previously and who have not undertaken VET or higher education study since may be considered for direct entry, including applicants who have completed Steiner, Montessori or home school curriculums. Applicants must be 20 years of age as at 1 March in the year of intake and meet one or more of the following:
- At least two years of relevant work experience (with evidence of duties and years of experience, and demonstration of academic capability; STAT may be required)
- Completion of STAT with scores of at least 135 in the Multiple Choice section and 140 in the Written English section (STAT results must have been obtained within the last three calendar years)
- Completion of two Year 12 WACE, HSC or equivalent exams, with a result equivalent to the Indicative ATAR/Selection Rank listed under Secondary Education
Experience Based Entry: If you are currently in Year 12 and completing the ATAR, General, VET, or Enabling pathway, you may be eligible to secure a place at Notre Dame University through experience based entry. Mature age applicants can apply by combining their academic background with relevant work experience.
All applicants must satisfy the Minimum University Admission Requirements, including those relating to minimum age and English Language Proficiency.

How many units of credit are required to complete this double degree?

The total units of credit required for the double degree is 800, comprising 50 credits for Core Curriculum courses, 200 for Business Foundation courses, 225 for Business Major courses and/or electives, 125 for Science Core courses, and 175 for Science Stream elective courses. Note that the minimum units of credit will vary depending on the chosen Major.
