You can choose from four Communication majors: Advertising, Digital and Social Media, Journalism, and Public Relations. You may also choose a second major from the School of Communication and Creative Arts, which includes options such as Animation, Communication Design, Dance, Interactive and UX Design, Photography, Screen Development, Screen Production, Theatre, Visual Arts, and Writing.
The course is available at Burwood (Melbourne), Waurn Ponds (Geelong), and Online. Trimester 1 (March) is available at all three locations, Trimester 2 (July) is available at all three locations, and Trimester 3 (November) is available at Burwood (Melbourne) and Online only.
The lowest selection rank ATAR based on 2026 early and first round VTAC offers is 60.05 for Burwood (Melbourne) and 61.50 for Waurn Ponds (Geelong). The Online mode has an unpublished (NP) ATAR. The Deakin Guaranteed ATAR is 51 for Burwood and Waurn Ponds, and 55 for Online, for eligible students.

To complete the Bachelor of Communication, you must pass 24 credit points. This includes the DAI001 Academic Integrity module (0 credit points), 1 credit point of Thematic core units, 3 credit points of Employability sequence units, and either two majors (8 credit points each, with at least one from the Communication majors) or one Communication major (8 credit points) plus one minor (4 credit points), with remaining credit points made up of additional minors or open elective units.
