About This Course

Studying communications and business provides a complementary range of expertise within the business and commercial environment including management, operations and marketing, accounting, economics and finance. This double degree will enable you to research, plan, execute and manage marketing campaigns, acquiring skills in issue management, product publicity, crisis communications, and media relations.

The Bachelor of Communication and Media equips you with an understanding of local and global media industries and the training to become an effective communicator using a variety of media, platforms, knowledge and skills that are in high demand across many sectors from business to nonprofit to government agencies.

We support your learning with state-of-the-art facilities including a fully equipped television and video production studio, radio and podcasting suites, design labs, and film production spaces. You can choose to specialise in Digital and Social Media, Marketing, Communication and Advertising, Journalism, Screen Media Production or Visual Communication Design.

Throughout the Bachelor of Business, you will gain practical, real-world experience and make professional connections. You will develop core skills across all business functions, as you build specialist knowledge in a chosen field to excel in today's dynamic and complex business environment.

Requirements

Minimum Selection Rank of 70 (ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any eligible adjustments) for guaranteed entry
Assumed knowledge: any two units of English
Recommended studies: English Advanced and any two units of Mathematics
Recent secondary education qualifications considered include: Australian ATAR, International Baccalaureate (IBAS), GCE A-Levels, New Zealand NCEA Level 3, and overseas senior secondary qualifications comparable to Australian qualifications
Students may be admitted via Early Admission (applications usually June–August each year)
Students can also apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC)
For higher education study: must have completed at least half a year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) at a Bachelor's degree level or higher
Work and life experience is generally not considered for admission; academic qualifications are the primary basis
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants may apply through UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre's Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP)
Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications: must provide academic records; course must be at least one-sixth complete; non-English documents must include an official English translation
English language proficiency: must meet UOW's English Language Requirements if English is not your first language; accepted tests include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET (for specific health-related courses)
