Common Questions
To be admitted to legal practice, in addition to completing UC's Bachelor of Laws, students must complete a Practical Legal Training (PLT) course and satisfy character requirements. The PLT course is also referred to as the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and is conveniently offered by external providers in the ACT.
The minimum selection rank (ATAR plus adjustment factors) required for admission is 85. This is an indicative guide only, as ranks change each year depending on demand.
Yes, there are non-standard English language requirements for this course. To be eligible you must have an overall IELTS Academic score (or equivalent) of 6.5, with no band score below 6.0. Alternate or equivalent ways of meeting the English requirements are outlined in the English Proficiency Requirements document on the university website.
The course takes 5.0 years to complete on a full-time basis, and is delivered on campus at Bruce, Canberra.
