The program includes a compulsory major (six subjects) in Marketing, where you'll develop knowledge and skills in buyer behaviour, marketing research, promotional design, and strategic marketing. You may also study international marketing and internet and digital marketing. You can further tailor your degree with electives from any faculty or with an additional major or minor in a related field such as film and television, advertising, public relations, social media, or creative writing. Specialist study areas include advertising, communication & society, corporate storytelling, creative writing, digital media, film & television, journalism, media studies, social media, and public relations.
You'll blend theoretical learning with hands-on practical activities. During your studies, you may take the opportunity to intern in-house or with an advertising or public relations agency. Past students have interned in organisations including Edelman, Ogilvy PR, Feros Care, Queensland Airports, and Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. On campus, you will create blogs, podcasts, media stories and websites for publication, and you will produce advertising schedules, marketing campaigns and social media strategies for real clients.

In Year 1, you'll begin your marketing major right away, taking three subjects in that field. You will also take foundational subjects in communication such as Strategic Speaking and Writing, Communication in the Workplace, and Digital Media and Society. In addition, you will complete three unique core subjects that ensure every student develops skills in critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, and integrity, and you will begin Beyond Bond, a practical, activity-based compulsory professional development program. In Year 2, you will continue progressing through your marketing major of six subjects, developing essential skills of consumer research, strategy development, program delivery and identification of market trends. You can then choose six general electives from any faculty or complete a specialist communication major (six subjects) or minor (four subjects) in your choice of study area.
