Students are required to complete 400 hours of field placement across two professional placement units: Community and Human Services Placement 1 (CHS2113) in Year 2 Semester 2, and Community and Human Services Placement 2 (CHS3203) in Year 3 Semester 2.
Yes, the Bachelor of Community and Human Services is provisionally accredited by Community Work Australia (formerly ACWA, the Australian Community Workers Association). Provisional accreditation is treated the same as full accreditation for the purpose of membership and migration skills assessments, and graduates of accredited programs are eligible for membership to Community Work Australia.
Yes, the course is available online; however, all students, including those who elect to study online, are required to complete 5 days of face-to-face classroom-based learning. These days will be run consecutively in one week, as this is a requirement set by Community Work Australia (CWA) for accredited programs.
Prior to placement, students must upload into SONIA a current National Police Clearance. The Unit Coordinator may discuss the contents of the National Police Clearance with the student if there is any potential risk to the student, agency, or ECU. Agencies may also request a Working with Children Check (or equivalent) before commencing placement.
For domestic students, the estimated first year indicative fee is AUD $9,550 (Commonwealth supported place). For international students, the estimated first year indicative fee is AUD $39,050.
