About This Course

Computer scientists focus on the theoretical foundations and practical approaches to computation and its applications. They design methods, tools and write programs for computer applications used in Artificial Intelligence (AI), stock market trend analysis, cyber security and patient monitoring in hospitals and more. You will study the fundamentals of computer science and IT: programming, problem-solving, network and communications, web technology, data management, system analysis, human-computer interaction, and project management. In your final year, you will develop your own application as part of a team project, developing solutions to real-world problems provided by industry partners.

Requirements

Minimum Selection Rank of 75 (ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any eligible adjustments) for guaranteed entry
Assumed knowledge: any two units of English and Mathematics Advanced or Mathematics Standard 2
Recommended studies: Mathematics Extension 1
Higher education study: minimum half a year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) at Bachelor's degree level or higher; prior study must be in Natural and Physical Sciences, Information Technology, or Engineering
VET study: minimum AQF Certificate IV in Natural and Physical Sciences, Information Technology, or Engineering
International students must meet UOW's English Language Requirements (accepted tests include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET)
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants may apply through UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP)
Students may be admitted via Early Admission
Credit for prior learning available for relevant prior study or professional experience
