Legal Internship
A practical placement completed over 4 weeks (totalling 140 hours, at 35 hours per week), designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice; enable students to understand the importance of developing the skills of legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving; and enable students to observe and reflect upon the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession in practice.

You can specialise in one of the following majors: Artificial Intelligence and Big Data (available at Liverpool and Wollongong campuses), Cyber Security (Wollongong), Digital Systems Security (Wollongong), Game and Mobile Development (Wollongong), or Software Engineering (Wollongong). Students who do not wish to specialise with a major will complete advanced subjects providing specific knowledge and professional skills in computer science.
Yes. The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board. By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). Yes. Law students must complete the Legal Internship subject (LLB3397), which is a practical placement completed over 4 weeks totalling 140 hours (at 35 hours per week). It is designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice and to develop skills in legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving, as well as to observe the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession in practice.
The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is a Selection Rank of 90. Your Selection Rank is your ATAR or IB Combined Rank plus any adjustments you are eligible to receive. Adjustments may be based on factors such as the subjects you are studying, the location of your school, or your eligibility for equity and access schemes.
Yes. The Bachelor of Computer Science – Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Australian Computer Society, and the Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board, making the law qualification recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia (subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training).
