You can choose from six majors: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Games Development, Internet of Things, and Software Development. Each major focuses on a distinct area — for example, Artificial Intelligence covers machine learning and AI engineering techniques, while Cyber Security prepares you for an in-demand career protecting systems from threats.
The Guaranteed Entry ATAR for the Bachelor of Computer Science (Professional) is 75.0. You'll be guaranteed a place if you meet or exceed this score, provided you also meet the course prerequisites. The lowest ATAR to receive an offer in 2025 (after adjustment factors) was 73.
Yes. A study score of 25 in Algorithmics (HESS), any Information Technology, any Mathematics or any Science equals 2 aggregate points per study, and a study score of 30 in those same subjects equals 3 aggregate points per study. There is an overall maximum of 15 points, and subject adjustment points are applied to the aggregate, not the ATAR.
International students must satisfy one of the following: an IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0, or completion of Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with an overall score of 70% and all skills at 65% or above, or equivalent measures as listed in Swinburne's English language requirements.
Yes. Credit transfer is granted in recognition of previous study and/or experience and allows students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) also allows students to gain credit towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Additionally, students who have completed VCE Algorithmics (HESS) will receive credit exemption for two 12.5 credit point elective units. All applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
