Become an engineer capable of solving the world’s greatest challenges Computer systems engineers use digital and computing technologies to solve problems in industrial systems. As part of this program, students will learn to combine creativity with advanced technology. Students will develop both hardware and software for electronic, computer and ICT systems. These skills are essential in rapidly growing fields like the Internet of Things, autonomous vehicles, and machine learning.

Computer Systems Engineering graduates have a unique skill set. Their skills span hardware design, software design, artificial intelligence, cyber security, communications systems and networks. Graduates will combine these skills in creative and innovative ways to solve real-world problems. With this degree, you could be developing advanced computing hardware and software for diverse sectors. Computer systems engineers work with sectors that are the building blocks of modern society. Key sectors include industrial automation, smart manufacturing, intelligent transport, e-health, aviation, and civic infrastructure. Students in our career-ready placements program gain practical workplace skills to start their careers after graduation. All University of Newcastle engineering students complete 12 weeks of industrial experience during their degree.
