With the increasing need for new residential and commercial developments, and construction jobs on the rise, construction managers are highly in demand. The building procurement process involves organising and managing a vast number of people, which requires good people management skills and the ability to work in teams. A career in construction management is diverse. Upon successful completion of this program you will have developed the specialised skills and knowledge to enable you to work as a construction management specialist in a range of roles including: site manager, responsible for managing the construction site construction manager, responsible for site management or running entire construction projects, ranging from housing through to multi storey buildings chartered builder chartered quantity surveyor, assisting with cost planning, analysis, management and control of construction projects projects manager, moving beyond the construction aspects of a project and managing the entire process from various stages of design through to completion and handover. You will develop the skills required to apply your theoretical and practice-based knowledge to meet the needs of a range of stakeholders within the construction industry including contractors, developers and consultants. The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), and the Australian Institute of Building (AIB).
The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) offers a range of minors to personalise your degree, including: Applied Project Skills, Project Management Practice, Property Investment Strategies, Property Technology and Management, Smart Construction, and Urban Strategy and Sustainable Planning.
Year 1 introduces you to the construction and property industries, covering how buildings and assets are created and basic construction management skills. Year 2 explores the construction process and technology in greater detail, including planning, costing, scheduling, sustainability, law, economics and leadership. Year 3 focuses on commercial construction and managing complex construction projects, with a research methods subject to prepare for fourth year. Year 4 brings all learnings together in a capstone project involving a realistic construction simulation, a research project, a thesis, and poster presentations.
Several scholarships are available, including: the M80 Ring Road Pathways Scholarship (worth up to $10,000 for women or non-binary students); the Hacer Women in Construction Scholarship ($7,000 plus a paid position in the Hacer 2-year Graduate Program); the Donald Cant Watts Corke Scholarship (up to $10,000 for students who can demonstrate circumstances impacting their study); the Building and Construction Foundation Scholarship ($5,000); and the Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) Scholarship ($5,000 for women commencing the degree with high ATAR results).
For international students, the annual tuition fee is AU$43,200 (2026 indicative). For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place, the annual student contribution amount for a standard full-time year is between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399, depending on the discipline band of each enrolled course. In addition, all students are charged an annual Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to AU$373 for 2026.
