Students are required to complete 180 credit points of core units and 180 credit points from any other combination of major, minor, or elective units from the School of Arts and Humanities and/or other Schools in the University, totalling 360 credit points over 3 years full-time.
For domestic students, the Commonwealth supported estimated 1st year indicative fee is AUD $17,400. For international students, the estimated 1st year indicative fee is AUD $39,000.
For domestic students, the course is available in Semester 1 and Semester 2, full-time or part-time, at the Joondalup campus or online. For international students, the course is available full-time at the Joondalup campus in both Semester 1 and Semester 2.
The course learning outcomes include applying broad discipline knowledge to foundational counselling issues, critically evaluating psychodynamic, humanistic and systemic counselling theoretical frameworks, generating counselling solutions for individuals, groups, couples and families, older adults, children and adolescents, demonstrating cultural and human diversity awareness including Indigenous cultural competence, and demonstrating autonomy, accountability, and judgement for own learning and professional practice.
English competency requirements may be satisfied through Year 12 English ATAR/English Literature ATAR grade C or better or equivalent, a Special Tertiary Admissions Test, IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0), successfully completed 1.0 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher in the UK, Ireland, USA, NZ or Canada, a University Preparation Course, an AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree, or successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent).
