You will be introduced to writing techniques for a variety of forms, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry and dramatic scripts. Specific units cover short stories, drama, screenwriting, creative non-fiction, poetry, and speculative fiction, as well as a final Creative Writing Project where you produce original work for a published anthology.
Yes. The Bachelor of Creative Writing is available both full-time and part-time, and can be studied at the ECU City Campus or online. Semester 1 and Semester 2 intakes are available for both full-time and part-time students in these modes.
For domestic students, the estimated first-year indicative fee is AUD $13,900 (Commonwealth supported place). For international students, the estimated first-year indicative fee is AUD $37,700.
An indicative ATAR of 70 is listed, but this course doesn't require an ATAR for entry. Applicants can apply using the Creative Humanities Portfolio Entry pathway, or meet academic admission requirements through alternatives such as an AQF Cert IV, University Preparation Course, Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test, or prior higher education study.
Yes. The course includes an Entrepreneurial Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) activity in WRT3650 Creative Writing Project, where students produce original creative work and collaboratively publish an anthology. Additionally, elective units SAH2650 Professional Experience: Internship (minimum 100 hours), SAH3650 Professional Placement 1, and SAH3660 Professional Placement 2 (minimum 225 hours each) offer workplace-based or project-based professional experience, though acceptance into these units is by application only.
