Yes. Throughout the degree you'll gain real-world experience through professional placements, guest lectures, workshops and networking events. Students have collaborated with award-winning authors, literary agents, publishers, screenwriters and editors. In your final year, you'll work on a real-world industry project and have the opportunity to publish your own work.
Yes. After your first year, you can focus on an area that interests you by choosing two option or minor topics in addition to your core topics. Available minors include Writing for Stage and Screen, which covers theatre, film and script development, and Performance, a hands-on introduction to acting, writing for theatre and leading collaborative arts projects.
Domestic students can enter with a Guaranteed Entry ATAR of 65.00, a STAT score of 150.0, or a GPA of 4.0. There are no prerequisites or assumed knowledge required. Pathway options include Arts | Diploma in Arts. Alternative entry options are also available for those without an ATAR.
Graduates are prepared to work as authors (typical salary $113K in Australia), freelance writers (typical salary $76K, with 7.1% projected jobs growth over 5 years), copywriters, editors and digital content producers. Flinders graduates also include award-winning authors, actors, animators, directors, cinematographers, editors, producers and writers working across the arts and communication industries internationally.
