The minimum ATAR entry score is 60.50. This refers to the lowest selection rank to which an offer was made, including consideration of any adjustment factors, for current and recent Year 12 applicants. Entry is competitive and applicants are ranked in order of merit. Up to 28 aggregate adjustment points may be available through equity access schemes and subject adjustments.
The Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice is a 3-year full-time degree (or 6 years part-time). It consists of 17 core subjects plus 6 electives. In Year 1, students complete 7 core subjects and 1 elective, covering key institutions, policing, correctional systems, criminological theory, criminal law and criminal psychology. In Year 2, students complete 6 core subjects and 2 electives, focusing on crime prevention, corrections, justice policy, international human rights and research skills. In Year 3, students complete 4 core subjects and 3 electives, including a 50-day work placement (internship) in a criminal justice organisation.
For domestic students in Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP), the annual student contribution amount for 2026 is between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399 depending on the band of each enrolled subject. Subjects in this degree are likely to fall under the 'Law, Accounting, Administration, Economics, Commerce, Communications, Society and Culture' band, which carries a maximum annual student contribution of AU$17,399 for a standard full-time year. The student services and amenities fee (SSAF) is a maximum of AU$373 for 2026. Eligible students may defer payment via HECS-HELP and SA-HELP loan schemes. For international students, the 2026 annual tuition fee is AU$38,400.

The degree includes a formal 50-day work placement in Year 3 within a criminal justice or related organisation, such as Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police, Customs and Border Security, Corrections, Community Services, or the courts system. Students also work on real cases of wrongful conviction through the Bridge of Hope Innocence Initiative and have the opportunity to study alongside incarcerated students. International opportunities are also available, including completing part of your studies or field placement overseas in countries such as the UK, Canada and the United States, through RMIT's network of over 165 partner universities.
Applicants with VET qualifications are assigned a selection rank comparable to an ATAR based on their highest completed qualification: Advanced Diploma is ranked at 81, Diploma at 72, and Certificate IV at 54. Applicants are encouraged to submit a personal statement of 300–500 words outlining their reasons for wanting to study the program, intended career path, personal strengths, and any related work or voluntary experience.
