Successful completion of an APAC-accredited undergraduate psychology specialisation is a partial requirement for registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
This degree serves as the first step toward becoming a registered psychologist. To work as a registered psychologist, you will need to complete further study in addition to this degree, including a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology or equivalent degrees recognised by the Australian Psychological Society.
Yes. An optional Professional Internship elective is available, where over a minimum of 20 days you'll step into a workplace such as a court, corrections, youth justice, victim support or another justice agency. Past students have completed placements with welfare and victim support services, youth justice services, the Magistrate's, Children's and Supreme Courts, Victoria Police, and Corrections Victoria. Selected students can also apply to complete their internship with the Bridge of Hope Innocence Initiative at RMIT.
Elective specialisations include criminal intelligence, forensic studies, drug-related crime, international policing, customs and border security, youth justice, and terrorism. Electives are available across all three years of the degree, allowing you to focus on areas that match your interests and career goals.
In Year 3, psychology subjects include Forensic Psychology, Philosophy and Methodology of Psychology, Professional Practices in Psychology, Psychological Assessment and Individual Differences, and Psychopathology and Models of Intervention. Criminology subjects include Case Management Practice and Criminal Behaviour Analysis, plus one elective. You'll focus on complex real-world issues in crime, psychology and justice, including criminal behaviour, violent offending, advanced psychological concepts, and the history and professional frameworks shaping contemporary psychology practice in Australia.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
