About This Course

Demand for cyber security experts is higher than ever. Build specialist expertise to make an impact in this constantly-evolving area of information technology (IT). The four-year Bachelor of Cyber Security (Professional), will develop and hone your skills to implement cyber security solutions and processes that protect organisations and individuals from cyber crime. With an embedded cyber security major and industry-aligned content, you'll be prepared to pursue a career as an IT or ICT practitioner — with the potential to grow into a leadership role. Throughout this degree, you will explore topics including: computer crime and cyber security ethical theories and principles within a professional IT context social implications of computing in a digital world the impact of social media and networking professional communication, and more. As well as technical skills, you will build robust skills in problem solving and decision making, critical analysis, ethical conduct, teamwork and professional communication. You will graduate as a work-ready, culturally and socially aware, globally competent and innovative lifelong learner. The Bachelor of Cyber Security (Professional) includes a supervised internship in the final year, where you can apply your knowledge in practical contexts, expand your experience, and begin building your professional network.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

You must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) (or equivalent qualification).
VCE units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies.
VCE units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or equivalent studies.
Entry to this program is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors.
ATAR entry score: 82.25 (domestic students).
Applicants with VET study will be assigned a selection rank based on highest completed qualification: Advanced Diploma: 81, Diploma: 72, Certificate IV: 54.
Applicants with Higher Education study must have satisfactorily completed at least four graded courses (subjects) (0.5 EFTSL) at an Australian undergraduate level (or overseas equivalent).
You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice (if eligible). STAT results are valid for 2 years prior to commencement of study.
You may be eligible for adjustment factors including equity access schemes, subject adjustments (up to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points), regional adjustments, Elite Athlete and Performer Program, and the Indigenous Access Program.
