About This Course

Adelaide University's Bachelor of Cyber Security equips you with the knowledge to protect digital systems and data, giving a solid understanding of cyber security practices, software, systems and networking. You learn to identify and stop cyber threats, manage risks and protect data.
The program starts with foundational courses introducing the latest advances in technology and essential fundamental skills, then builds an understanding of structured data and information technology systems for managing and securing data within IT infrastructures. The curriculum covers Security Foundations, Network Foundations, Cyber Law, Policy and Privacy, and Human, Organisational and Societal Aspects.
You learn threat identification and mitigation strategies and gain a deep understanding of networking protocols and architectures, with academics guiding you through the legal, ethical and human factors in cybersecurity. You then select from a range of cyber-related courses, from technical subjects such as malware and attack technologies through to information assurance and risk management.
Two majors are available — Governance, Risk and Compliance, or Technology — and further into the degree you fine-tune your skills through collaborative projects based on real-life cyber attacks.
Practical components include the ICT Capstone Projects, applying your knowledge to real-world cybersecurity problems, and professional communication, business and teamwork courses prepare you to work in professional environments with diverse teams.
The program totals 144 units and runs full time over three years across the Adelaide City and Mawson Lakes campuses. It is provisionally accredited at the level of Cyber Security Professional by the Australian Computer Society, with graduates eligible for ACS membership and recognised internationally through the Seoul Accord.

• Work and life experience — Completion of an Adelaide University approved enabling, pathway or bridging program; OR A competitive result in the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT); OR Qualify for special entry.
