Yes. The Bachelor of Cyber Security (Professional) includes a year-long supervised industry internship in the final (fourth) year of the degree. Through this internship, you will be equipped with professional experience relevant to your study and career goals, as well as essential and highly transferrable skills in teamwork, communication, project management and execution, customer-focused solution development, and organisational culture.
In addition to the embedded major in cyber security, you can undertake a minor to focus your learning on your area of interest. Available minors include: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Blockchain Enabled Business, Blockchain Technologies, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, CISCO Networking, Cloud Computing, Creative Computing, Data Analysis, Data Science, Enterprise Systems Development, and Entrepreneurship.
You must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent. Prerequisites include a study score of at least 25 in English (other than EAL) or at least 27 in EAL, and a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics. The indicative ATAR entry score for domestic students is 82.25, and applicants may be eligible for adjustment factors of up to 28 aggregate points.
In Year 1, you explore specialised ICT subjects covering decision making in cyber security, studio projects, and cyber ethical issues. In Year 2, you study computer forensics, penetration testing, cloud security, secure electronic commerce, and software engineering fundamentals, along with elective minors. In Year 3, you undertake a capstone subject in strategic cyber security and graduate folio development, as well as cyber-attack analysis and incident response, cyber security governance, and project management for software engineering. Year 4 is centred around your year-long industry internship, where you apply your learning in a professional context.
