Yes. To differentiate your studies and focus your career towards the area that interests you most, you will have the opportunity to undertake minor studies in a topic of your choosing. Available minors include Cloud Technologies, Cyber Security, Education, Embedded Systems, Finance, Full Stack Development, Health Analytics, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Psychology, Retail Management, Security Management, Sports Analytics, Sustainability and Environmental Science, and Virtual and Augmented Reality.
The learning experiences and assessment activities within this course require students to have access to a range of technologies beyond a desktop computer or laptop. Students will be required to purchase minor equipment, such as small single board computers, microcontrollers and sensors. Equipment requirements and details of suppliers will be provided on a per-unit basis. The indicative cost of this equipment for this course is AUD$500.
The course is available at Burwood (Melbourne) and Online. You can commence in Trimester 1 (starting March) or Trimester 2 (starting July) at both locations. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close 21 June 2026.
You will need a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education with an unadjusted ATAR of at least 50 or equivalent. The lowest selection rank (including relevant adjustment factors) for Burwood is 67.30, with a Deakin Guaranteed ATAR of 58 for eligible students. For Online, the lowest selection rank is unpublished, with a Deakin Guaranteed ATAR of 60 for eligible students.
