There are three majors to choose from: Business Data Science (72 UOC), which focuses on econometrics and business applications of data science; Computational Data Science (66 UOC), which investigates statistics, computer science, mathematics and machine learning to identify trends and make predictions; and Quantitative Data Science (66 UOC), which revolves around mathematical and statistical methods to interpret, understand and predict data.
The Bachelor of Data Science and Decisions is a three-year full-time undergraduate degree containing a total of 144 units of credit (UOC). The program comprises core courses (120 UOC, including one data science major of 66–72 UOC), general education courses (12 UOC), and free elective courses (12 UOC). Part-time study is also available.
Yes. The Bachelor of Data Science and Decisions program at UNSW offers Work Integrated Learning (WIL), providing the opportunity to fast track your career through real-world experience. You can undertake professional placements at IT companies and start-ups, government departments, and biomedical and biotechnology companies while you study. Industry partners include Clemenger BBDO, Amazon and CSIRO, and you can earn course credit towards your degree through these placements.
For domestic students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $8,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $27,000. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $60,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $189,000.
For domestic Australian students, the 2026 lowest selection rank (ATAR plus adjustment factors) is 90.0, and the lowest ATAR before adjustment factors was 81.8. Assumed knowledge is Mathematics Extension 1. For international students applying directly, the minimum requirements include an International ATAR of 85.0, UNSW Foundation Studies GPA of 7.5, GCE A Levels score of 11.0, IB Diploma of 33.0, or SAT score of 1210.0.
