To complete the Bachelor of Design you must complete a total of 288 credit points, made up of: Core units (60 credit points), a Design major (96 credit points), a Capstone unit option (12 credit points), QUT You (24 credit points), and Complementary studies (96 credit points), made up of a combination of second majors, minors, Design specialisation unit options, university-wide unit options, and Creative Industries WIL unit options.
Yes, you can travel overseas and be on pace with international design trends as part of your studies. You can enjoy a full year of studies overseas at one of QUT's international partner universities in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Hong Kong, the US and Canada. QUT fashion students have also completed international exchanges to London, Milan, Berlin, Amsterdam and Delhi, and secured internships with leading global brands including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Antipodium and Tom Ford. While on exchange, you continue to pay your QUT tuition fees and won't have to pay tuition fees at your exchange university.
Yes, fashion is an internationally recognised business powerhouse and you can specialise in the business of fashion with a double degree in business to enhance your opportunities to work in diverse design careers including fashion buying, fashion marketer, fashion finance, fashion business analyst, design forecaster and fashion entrepreneur.
Your skills will be rounded with real-world experiences through work integrated learning, study tours and chosen electives. In the studio, you will develop your design identity, working individually and in teams on real-world briefs and projects. QUT students have opened pop-up stores, produced fashion magazines and websites, and collaborated with leading designers such as Lydia Pearson. International internships with leading global brands including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Antipodium and Tom Ford are also available.
The ATAR/selection rank threshold is 70.00, which is the lowest adjusted score to which QUT made an offer in Semester 1, 2026. If you achieve an ATAR or selection rank of 70.00 or higher (including any adjustments) and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer for this course in the Semester 1 offer rounds, up to the main offer round in mid-January.
