Bachelor of Design

You can choose from five majors: Advertising and Design, Design Innovation and Fabrication, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, and Photography.

You can customise your degree in three steps: Step 1 – choose your major from the five available design majors; Step 2 – choose a specialisation (noting you must choose a different specialisation to your major) from options including Creative Advertising Design, Digital Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, Graphic Design, Illustration, and Photography; Step 3 – complete your degree by either choosing a second Design specialisation, choosing a non-Design specialisation to gain expertise in a second field, or choosing four elective units in your area of interest.

Professional membership may be available with the Design Institute of Australia. Graduates may also convert student memberships of professional design organisations, such as the Australian Graphic Design Association, Design Institute of Australia, and Perth Advertising and Design Club, into full professional memberships following qualification and professional experience.

You must meet Curtin's English language requirements. The IELTS Academic requirement is an overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6 in each of Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening. If you have completed a different English test or qualification, you may be able to use it to meet this requirement.

In this course, you'll learn to design through project-based activities using industry-standard equipment, technologies and media platforms. In your final year, you will complete a capstone unit. You will explore interdisciplinary themes through the creation of design-focused projects, and benefit from strong links with industry across the design majors.
