Common Questions
Students have access to Deakin's extensive a+b studio, an inspiring open-plan space for collaborative work and project development. There is also a purpose-built workshop equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and traditional tools and machinery for fabricating models and experimenting with technology, materials and processes. Dedicated Computer Labs are also available, and where possible, all required software (Autodesk, Adobe) is provided under free academic licensing.
Students will be required to purchase minor equipment such as drawing media, paperstock, sketchbooks, and model making tools. The indicative cost of equipment and materials over the course duration can vary depending on quality or execution, but is suggested in the range of $750–$1,500. Students are also recommended to have access to a personal computer (laptop or desktop), though Deakin has dedicated Computer Labs available for those who do not have one before commencing. All required software (Autodesk, Adobe) is provided under free academic licensing at no additional cost.
Yes. Deakin offers the option to earn two degrees faster through a double degree. You can combine an architecture degree with construction management or property and real estate, which saves time, reduces costs and unlocks more career opportunities.
To complete the Bachelor of Design (Architecture), students must pass 24 credit points, which includes 22 credit points of core units and 2 credit points of open elective units. Students must also complete DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point) and SRA010 Safety Induction Program (0-credit-point) as compulsory units. A maximum of 10 credit points may be at level 1, and a minimum of 6 credit points must be at level 3. As a full-time student, you will study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year.
Students will have the opportunity to undertake a discipline-specific industry placement as part of the course through the SEBE WIL (Work Integrated Learning) program. Additionally, students collaborate with construction management students through Deakin's unique integrated learning approach, mirroring real-world professional practice and ensuring graduates have practical and applied experience that employers value.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
