In the Bachelor of Design you can choose from Branded Environments, Communication Design, Motion Design, Photomedia, and UX Interaction Design. In the Bachelor of Media and Communication you can choose from Advertising, Cinema and Screen Studies, Creative Writing and Publishing, Immersive Media, Journalism, Public Relations, and Social Media.
The guaranteed entry ATAR for the Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Media and Communication is 70.0. If your ATAR is below the guaranteed entry score, you may still receive an offer as your ATAR may be adjusted based on subject adjustments, equity schemes or other factors. The lowest ATAR to receive an offer in 2025 (after adjustment factors) was 64.35.
Yes, there are pathway options available. You can apply through the Diploma of Design (UniLink) (8 months full-time, up to 8 units of credit) or the Diploma of Arts and Communication (UniLink), both of which may provide credit (advanced standing) towards this double degree.
Yes. Credit transfer is granted in recognition of previous study and/or experience and allows students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) also allows students to gain credit towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
International students must demonstrate satisfactory completion of one of the following: an IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0, Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with an overall score of 65% and all skills at 65% or above, or equivalent measures as listed on Swinburne's English language requirements page.
