Bachelor of Design (Communication Design)

The program is housed within the School of Art and Design, which builds on the foundation of the South Australian School of Art — the birthplace of the world's first design degree. It is a leader in art and design education, shaping diverse creative career pathways in areas such as graphic design, industrial design, visual effects, digital media, and illustration and animation.

Students benefit from strong industry and community partnerships that provide internships and mentorships, industry and community-based projects, masterclasses and guest lectures, and opportunities to build professional networks and skills for the workplace. The college collaborates with leading organisations including Rising Sun Pictures, Adelaide Fringe, Channel 44 and the Helpmann Academy.

Students create and learn in purpose-built studios, workshops and performance spaces, which feature industry-standard equipment, tools and software for hands-on, immersive practice. The college also has unique on-campus galleries and museums including the Architecture Museum, SASA Gallery, Samstag Museum of Art and MOD., which serve as vibrant hubs for inspiration, discovery and community connection.

Graduates are equipped for diverse creative career pathways including roles in graphic design, industrial design, visual effects, digital media, and illustration and animation. The Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) is delivered through the School of Art and Design, which is part of the College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities.
