Common Questions
Domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) pay an annual student contribution amount between AU$4,738 and AU$17,399 depending on the band of their enrolled courses. For a standard full-time year (96 credit points), the exact amount depends on subject band. In addition, a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to AU$373 per year applies in 2026. International students pay AU$46,080 per annum (2026 annual fee). HECS-HELP and SA-HELP loans may be available to eligible domestic students to defer fees.
There is no published ATAR cutoff for this course. Entry is competitive and based primarily on the assessment of a Games Design selection task rather than ATAR alone. All direct applicants must complete and submit one of six available briefs as part of the selection task, submitted as a single PDF. ATAR profile data is listed as 'R/C' (selection task required, ATAR is not the primary method). Adjustment factors such as SNAP, equity access schemes, and the Elite Athlete and Performer Program may apply to eligible Year 12 applicants.
Applicants must complete one of six briefs: (1) Improvements to an Existing Game (500–1000 words); (2) World Design Art Folio (3–7 pages); (3) World Narrative Design Folio (500–1000 words); (4) Game Modding Project folio (3–7 pages); (5) Game Prototype or Design folio (3–7 pages); (6) Community Games Project Proposal (500–1000 words). Each brief takes approximately 1 day (7 hours). Submissions must be a single PDF, and AI must not be used. Applicants can use pre-existing creative work. The deadline for Semester 2, 2026 / Semester 1, 2027 intakes is 17 July 2026.
The Bachelor of Design (Games) has two intake dates per year: February and July. For the 2026 and 2027 intakes, the next rounds are Semester 2, 2026 (February) and Semester 1, 2027 (July). Applications for the Semester 2, 2026 / Semester 1, 2027 intakes must have the selection task submitted by 17 July 2026.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
