Common Questions
The Bachelor of Design in Architecture takes 2 years (6 semesters) to complete on a full-time basis, thanks to Bond's fast-track trimester timetable. Students may also choose to study part-time. The full bachelor's to master's pathway can be completed in 3 years and 4 months.
Students have exclusive access to the award-winning Abedian School of Architecture building, which includes computing and fabrication laboratories, a digital robotics laboratory, traditional workshops, and an impressive events and exhibition space. You will use 3D printers, large format laser cutters, CNC routers and industrial robot arms to create scale models, prototypes, and installations. The facility and its associated Fabrication and Robotics Lab are dedicated for student use and accessible 24/7 throughout the year. Every student also has their own assigned desk and workspace in an open-plan studio for the duration of their studies.
The Bachelor of Design in Architecture comprises 27 subjects (240 credit points). Studies include content from the disciplines of architecture, digital media, construction, urban planning, film, and university electives. In first year, students complete Bond's core subjects in critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, and integrity, along with Creative Design Studios. In second year, students complete Design Futures Studios and delve deeper into designing, modelling, and fabricating. Students will also undertake a brief period of work-integrated learning prior to graduation.
Yes, the Bachelor of Design in Architecture is a standard degree pathway leading toward a Master of Architecture, which is the terminal award allowing graduates to gain registration as an Architect in Australia and other jurisdictions that recognise the award. Graduates may progress to the Master of Architecture upon application and review of undergraduate performance; however, entry to the Master of Architecture is not automatic. The Abedian Foundation Master of Architecture Scholarships are also available — these are full fee scholarships awarded on academic merit to successful applicants commencing Bond's Master of Architecture.
The Abedian School of Architecture has one of the lowest student-to-staff ratios of any architectural program offered in Australia, offering personalised attention and mentoring. It is one of Australia's only dedicated design studios for architecture students. Key highlights include an annual all-school Design Charrette, several off-campus study tours (including international study opportunities), a monthly international guest-lecture series, study with distinguished guest faculty and Architects-In-Residence, a bi-annual student exhibition and publication, and an internationally and nationally recognised academic staff of scholars and practitioner-teachers. In 2024, the School also received the President's Prize from the Australian Institute of Architects (Queensland Chapter) in recognition of its contribution to the profession.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
