Bachelor of Design Studies (exit only)

Bachelor of Design Studies is an exit point only from program 1571 Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication). Students may elect to exit from the Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) after completion of 240 credit points in the first three years of the program sequence. Offered as a Bachelor Degree qualification of 240 credit points, it is normally completed in 3 years full-time and 6 years part-time. Students do not apply for this award directly: admission is to the parent program, and the qualification is conferred on those who leave that program early having completed the required credit points. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Humanities and Communication Arts academic area. Subjects include Contextual Design Studies, Design Research Project, Graphic Design: Developing a Personal Portfolio, Graphic Design: The Professional Context and Researching the Visual. Graduates are expected to be able to integrate practical and theoretical skills and knowledge within visual communication; and exercise critical and creative judgement to make informed decisions in a variety of design and visual communication situations with sensitivity to cultural and intercultural knowledge and skills, including those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
