Common Questions
The inherent requirements are the essential components of the course that demonstrate the abilities, knowledge and skills to achieve the core learning outcomes, while preserving the academic integrity of the university's learning, assessment and accreditation processes. They are clustered under seven domains: ethical behaviour, behavioural stability, communication, cognition, sensory abilities, strength and mobility, and sustainable performance.
Yes. Students with a disability or chronic health condition may be able to have reasonable adjustments made to enable them to meet the inherent requirements. The School is committed to making reasonable adjustments to teaching and learning, assessment and other activities to enable students to participate in their course, provided such adjustments do not fundamentally change the nature of the inherent requirement.
If you think you may experience challenges for any reason including a disability or chronic health condition, you should discuss your concerns with SoHCA staff, such as the Director of Academic Program, Academic Course Advisor, School Disability Coordinator, or a Campus Disability Advisor. These staff can work collaboratively with you to determine reasonable adjustments to assist you to meet the inherent requirements.
Sufficient visual acuity is required to demonstrate the required range of skills through the performance of relevant tasks and assessments. Visual observations and the use of visual elements are fundamental to successful design practice, including tasks such as effectively utilising visual research findings, applying type, colour and the principles of design to visual solutions, and implementing the use of visual metaphor and symbolism for image-based practices.
These inherent requirements apply to the Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) (1571), the Bachelor of Design (Dean's Scholars) (1737), the Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Applied Leadership and Critical Thinking (1624/3725), and the Bachelor of Design Studies (1624).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
