Students can choose from three design specialisations. The Computational Design specialisation enables teaching accreditation in Design and Technology (first teaching area) and Enterprise Computing including Computing Technology (second teaching area). The Industrial Design specialisation enables accreditation in Design and Technology (first teaching area only) and Graphics and Multimedia Technology (second teaching area only). The Integrated Design specialisation enables accreditation in Visual Arts (first teaching area only), Design and Technology (first teaching area only), and optionally Graphics and Multimedia Technology or Textiles and Design as a second teaching area.
You will complete up to 80 days of supervised teaching experience in at least two different high school contexts. The first professional experience is a one-day intensive orientation and online activities followed by a four-week supervised work placement. The second placement goes for nine weeks, during which you'll gradually shift towards more autonomy, responsibility, and accountability. Both placements provide real-world experience and supportive feedback to guide your future career.
Yes, this degree is accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) as an initial teaching qualification for both government and non-government secondary schools throughout Australia and is widely accepted as a teaching qualification internationally.
For domestic students in a Commonwealth Supported Place, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $8,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $32,000. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $48,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $211,500. These fees are for tuition only and do not include other fees and charges.
Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities including the Design Futures Lab, The Making Centre, fully equipped creative workshops, and digital studios across the Kensington and Paddington campuses. You will also receive an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription throughout your studies. The design component of the degree also offers industry experiences such as internships, work placements, studio projects and networking opportunities.
