About This Course

Use your voice for those who need to be heard The combined degree will equip you with the capabilities needed to develop and present clear and effective narratives and arguments across written, visual, oral and multimedia form – allowing you to speak up and record the stories of those who need to be heard

You will build experience in different forms of media that can be used in various industries – making a real difference to communities locally and around the world. Meet Kirra and find out why she chose to study a Bachelor of Development Studies. Every major has a course available that includes a 140-hour placement with relevant industry partners in government, not-for-profit organisations, or private businesses. Students may also undertake international placement, available by enrolling in international study. Fieldwork, in places like the sacred Aboriginal Baiame Cave, provides the chance to develop research skills. Development, poverty, inequality and environmental sustainability are some of the most important issues in the world today. The combined Bachelor of Development Studies/Bachelor of Media and Communication program will let you develop the capabilities needed to construct and present clear and effective narratives and arguments across written, visual, oral and multimedia forms, allowing you to speak up and record the stories of those who need to be heard. Through the program you will focus on key global issues in local, national or international contexts, while also pushing your creative boundaries, and gaining practical skills with access to the latest media technologies including our multi-camera television studio and radio and sound recording studios.
