About This Course

Find solutions to global challenges Development, poverty, inequality and environmental sustainability are some of the most important issues in the world today. Study the causes and consequences of unequal development. Assess policy options for a more equitable and sustainable future.

This program is the only development studies program in Australia to include economics and Aboriginal studies as core courses. Through social science, analyse, challenge and gain an insight into global theories. Cover life cycle, gender, class, race, work and social justice. Gain an understanding of global inequality development with a grounding in social science theory and practice. Every major has a course available that includes a 140-hour placement with relevant industry partners. Students may also undertake international placement, available by enrolling in international study. Fieldwork, in places like the sacred Aboriginal Baiame Cave, provides the chance to develop research skills. The need for environmentally sustainable and equitable development is one of the most serious issues facing the contemporary world. Development Studies provides opportunities to study the causes and consequences of unequal development and assess policy options for a more equitable and sustainable future.
